In between necessity and greed. Part 2

The first part of this blog you can find it here.

Generally, you need to put hardcore efforts to find a solution to a problem but in my case solution came on its own, but it brings its disadvantages. That evening when I was not able to figure out what to do next, I got a phone call from a very powerful person. The person on the call tells me, Set speaking. Not just me entire Kolkata is familiar with this name a person with good political connections and knows well how to manage the judiciary. He said now you are in big trouble police have strong evidence against you at any moment they will come and arrest you. But I give you an offer of a new life. I will save you from all the trouble in favor you will be working for me. Before I(Abir) can ask what kind of work, he cuts the call by saying come to my office at 7 AM tomorrow or police will come for you. I was very sure that he will ask for some illegal stuff. But what choice I have either gone to jail tomorrow or go to jail in future. It was very clear in my mind that once you step into the world of crime there is no way out. I can't sleep that night, I am not able to decide what to do in a matter of few hours I need to visit Mr. Set or the police will visit me. I thought that if police come tomorrow and arrest me this will be a major embracement for me and my family. We were poor but we never engage in any unsocial activities. Poverty kills us each and every single day but now my parents also need to see that their son getting arrested in a narcotic case they can't bear the pain. I started convincing myself that unknowingly I did a serious crime and there is no way I can prove myself innocent. So I decided to meet Mr. Set tomorrow and at least get to know what he wants from me and then I will decide whether to work for him or not. I went downstairs to see my parents. They were sleeping at that time. I looked at them and thought that this is can be the last time I am seeing my parents, and this is can be the last time I am so close to my parents. While thinking this I started crying. I went back to my room and start writing a letter to my parents. In that letter, I wrote I got a job in Mumbai and the pay is good enough and I will leave the village early morning before they woke up. Because I know that they will never agree to let me go. They can't live without their only son. I request them to understand the situation I have my entire life to live. I will call them after I reach Mumbai. I end it by saying "Love you Maa and Baba".

I took the first local to Howrah and crossed Howrah Bridge by walking. After that, I take a bus that will take me to Mr. Set's office. I heard his name before but for the first time, I saw him. I entered his chamber he asked me to sit. I can't hold my patience anymore I asked him straight "What do you want from me". He replied to me calm down and drink some water. Then he starts explaining the legal complexities I can get into. And he is there to help. He said I was there, I have seen you fighting with those guys. You got some moves, you can be a dangerous fighter with a few months of training. I said I am never gonna do that I have to fight that day because I want to save my life and do my job. I will never be gunda(a person who beats people). He again said me to calm down and said I understand your morals. I am not asking you to become a gunda. I am asking you to become a fighter and play it as a sport. I said what do you mean. He said I want you to become an MMA(Mixed martial arts) fighter. But there are athletes who are ten times better than me then why me? He said this is not the regulated version of MMA I am talking about. It's illegal on paper but you get all the facilities that a player gets in the real world. Police are already left for your residence they will find your parents there and you know well enough how they behave with general people. Now it's your call either police will torcher your parents or you will accept my offer. I did not waste a second accepting his offer when I heard police will torcher my parents. He make a phone call and told me that my parents are safe now. He also assured me that he will clean all my records from that case. I said to him you are taking advantage of mine. He strongly disagrees he said I am helping you get out of this situation giving you a new life you can't imagine what is waiting for you. You will get money, fame, power and respect that you never going to have if even worked for your entire life as a headload worker. Working for 14 hours a day carrying heavy loads what do you get from this exploitation, low wages, disrespect, getting abused by a boss you call this a life! I will give you the life you never had. But from inside I knew that I am going to do another crime to get out of a crime. He told me you will leave for Delhi in an hour. His people will be with me on the flight.

In the next part, you will get to know what is waiting in Delhi for Abir. An ordinary 20-year-old going to fight professional fighters. All the characters in this story are completely fictional if anyone finds any similarities that's nothing but a coincidence. I used the real name of the places. I will continue in the next part. Stay tuned. I am writing blogs to improve my grammar and vocabulary. Improving communication skills overall. Thanks for reading this till the end. Make sure to give some feedback. Have a good day.
